Bankruptcy Lawyer :
A Bankruptcy Lawyer is an attorney that is practiced in the various chapters of the bankruptcy code, either Chapter 7, 11, 12, or 13. Each of these types of cases are considerably different, however. Chapters 7 and 13 are consumer cases; Chapter 12 is reserved for farmers; and Chapter 11 cases are very complex, usually dealing with large businesses or estates with a considerable amount of money. There is also what is called a Chapter 20, which is not named for a specific chapter of the code, but instead is a combination of filing a Chapter 7 case, which is then followed by a Chapter 13. Some regular practitioners will claim to be able to file bankruptcy cases, but this is an area of law that you need a specialist, or Bankruptcy Lawyer. You will also need someone that is well-versed in the particular chapters. An attorney that files Chapter 7 cases will not necessarily be qualified to file a Chapter 11 case.
